In summary, the working conditions imposed by the pandemic have taken out far from 6 months late to the development of the game. Provisions have been taken to ensure that the impact of the pandemic is less important in 2022, but the evil is already Done and Square Enix could not have reassembled his RPG in 2021, contrary to what was planned. The message of producer NAOMI YESHIVA
Salutations to all,
The last time we discussed, I promised you that I would have more information on Final Fantasy XVI in the course of the year 2021. However, I regret to inform you that I will not be able to hold this Promise because complications related to the Pandemic of Covid-19 have delayed the development of the game from nearly six months.
Last born from the Final Fantasy series developed for the PlayStation 5, Final Fantasy XVI brought together an important team composed of talented creators from all over the world. However, in order to compensate for the effects of COVID-19, we had to decentralize this work force by allowing staff to tackle their missions from home. This situation has unfortunately hampered communication with the Tokyo office, resulting in delays, in extreme cases, cancellations — in the resource deliveries of our external partners.
That said, we spent a large part of the year 2021 solving this problem, and we hope that its impact will be reduced to the minimum by the new year, which will allow us to better focus on the tasks to be performed: Improving the quality of graphic resources, refining combat mechanisms, expanding individual battles, put the final touch to cinematic and make global graphic optimization. Our main objective is now having your hands on the game as much as possible for it to be perfectly at the point.
The question that arises is therefore: when can we hope to receive the next round of information? Well, I am pleased to announce that the current plan is to make our next major revelation in the spring of 2022, in order to arouse enthusiasm until the possible exit of the game.
I sincerely apologize with all those who have waited with impatience to learn more about Final Fantasy XVI, and I thank you for your patience while we focus our efforts on development.
