United Kingdom: FIFA 22 is the best-selling game 2021 with 2.2 million exises
The website of the Entertainment Retailer Association published its account of the year 2021 for the British entertainment industry. After a year 2020 doped by the confines, the video game turnover declined by 3.3% last year.
Physical and digital expenditures still meet €5.12 billion over the year, which represents a 14% increase from 2019, before the pandemic comes to inflate the market in an exceptional way. Video game turnover also represents more than double that of the music market. In addition to the numerous game reports, the recoil can also be explained by the insufficient availability of new generation consoles, even if the PlayStation 5 has managed to finish at the head of the console sales oversee (the Switch keeps the advantage over all of Europe).
The only segment that recorded a decline in 2021 is the mobile games, the turnover of which increased by 8.1% to 1.8 billion euros. Other statistics that should no longer surprise anyone, the box of the box console in box fell by 20% and weighs now less than the download console games for download (608 million euros for physics compared to 656 million euros for the digital).
Unlike previous years, the Entertainment Retailer Association has not published the best-selling games of the year and is content to unveil the big winner's numbers. No suspense, it is FIFA 22 that has elapsed at 917,000 in-store copies and especially 1.3 million units in digital format. A total of 2.2 million sales, therefore, for this opus that makes slightly better than FIFA 21 (2,182,694 sales in 2020).
If we take into account only box sales, the top 10 of the year 2021 communiqué by JFK consists of FIFA 22, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Minecraft, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Mario 3D World + Bowler's Fury, Call Of Duty: Vanguard, Marvel's Spider-Man: Moral Miles, Sparkling Diamond Pokémon / Sparkling Pearl, FIFA 21 and Grand Theft Auto V.
